SFP holdover question

No, I believe it is the FFP scope that the reticle is good on any magnification. The SFP scope is good only on whatever power the manufacturer notes...usually the lowest power setting.

The click values and the reticle will be corresponding at the manufacturer's specified magnification, but you can still use the dots or lines of the scope for hold overs at different magnifications. Just figure out where your rounds hit at different mags.(and ranges) and you'll have your own holdovers. Sometimes that is faster than adjusting elevation anyways.

Usually the highest, or 12x on Nikons. But it can be anything the manufacture wants really.

You can if you know the hold values at the specific magnification you're using. And it won't always be exact. This is the primary reason a lot of shooters prefer FFP reticles.

Yep, what those guys said, if you were to practice enough, shooting at different distances at different magnifications and keep perfect records, then yes you should be able to repeat holdovers at different magnifications with a SFP scope, and I think there may even be formulas out there to figure it out mathamatically, but I would imagine that would prove to be even more error filled and difficult than to go to the range and shoot and collect hard dope.

Best bet is to either stick with one or two power settings on a SFP, confirming both with hard data, or just buy a FFP scope and never have to worry about it ever again.

^^This^^. Variables need to be FFP to achieve consistant dope without checking the book. Holdovers and come-ups shoulds always be the same regardless.
