Bore sighting an Ar-15 info needed

I just installed a tactical lasar and I need to adjust it so its zeroed, I plan to use a laser bore sighter

QUESTION : so, at what distance do I first start off at to zero the laser ?

Whatever distance you plan to shoot at. Also, visible lasers are not the best tool for distance engagements. If you plan to use your rifle for HD, train, train , train withthat laser. HD engagements are CQC(within the confines of your home dimensions) and your weapon should be zeroed for those distances, including mechanical offset. Bore sighting can be done with the factory zeroed laser. Then adjust from there.

Unless your bore sight laser and weapon mounted laser are different colors this exercise could suck! I almost went crazy getting my red dot set with a red laser. The only thing that saved me in that case was the ability to adjust the brightness to get some differentiation in the two red dots.

My Laserlyte boresight was OK at 50 yds in a dim indoor range, but useless at 100...couldn't see the dot on the target.
