Really only usefull when used in conjunction with night vision as it blocks visible light from passing thru and only allows IR wavelengths to pass thru onto what you are shining the flashlight on.

When you have NVGs, those IR filters are awsome, other than that, tacticool. That said, if its coming with your light as a package deal, sell it to recoup part of the cost or hang onto it for use with NVGs down the road, either way, no biggie. Or you could just use it to protect the lens of the flashlight and just flip it off when you want to use the light, I use my red lens the same way.
