    mil or bdc

Ive got a ar308. Im trying to decide whats best for me. Im looking to use this to the longest range possible. I have already decided from either a mil-dot 4-16x50 or a .308 bdc 3-9x42.If you were to choose one of these, what would it be and why? Thank you.
or should i stick with a standard crosshair and guess hold over and range?

Mildot. The BDC is calculated for one specific load, so if you're changing loads or developing new loads, the calibration of the dots will be off. With mildots, you can range targets with known dimensions. It's a better system.

Hey no problem. Have fun with it. Careful. Long range shooting gets addictive.

I second Mil-Dots. Get it with tool-less turrets and write down all the adjustments on a notepad.

I third Jonah, that is why I went with Mil-Dot as well.
