I am wondering everyones opinion on best tactical scope for my new LR-308. I am trying to keep it 600 or less. Looking for something that will hold zero and has lots of adjustment to go out to a thousand yards?

Or save a few less pennies and get a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 Mildot. It's not a perfect scope, but it's durable, the glass is amazing, and the adjustments are repeatable.
If you do decide to save even more pennies, get a NF 3-15x or 5.5-22x with MLR reticle. Besides the glass not being that impressive, NF is as close to a perfect scope you can get.Comment

Vortex Viper or Nikon Monarch are both good choices in your price range. If you can live with a fixed-magnification, check out the SWFA Super Snipers in 10x, 16x or 12x; an excellent scope for the price.Last edited by killshot44; 11-09-2010, 7:57 PM.Comment

I currently have a Millett 10X50mm TRS2 on my 21" LR-308 rifle. I bought that scope in conjunction to switch to Leupold VX-III tactical 4.5-14X50mm as soon as I can find another one. But after seeing the results first hand, I think that Millett will stay on the rifle. So to answer your question "I am trying to keep it 600 or less." from my prospective:
Millett TRS2 10X50mm = $350.00
or Weaver Tactical 5-15X50mm = $625.00
And what is the best tactical scope I have ever used and still using, that will be older Leupold VX-III tactical and Mark 4 scopes."We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience." - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.Comment

I have this exact model and have been really really happy with it....the only thing I'm not a big fan of, is the small allen screws to reset knobs back to zero (pain in the @$$)...they could have done MUCH better in this area.
OP might want to check out the Vortex Vipers if Sightron SIII is out of reach.
