Help me decide? Optic for my AR15

    Guys,

I am looking for a good RDS optic. What should I go with? This is what I am looking at...

    Vortex Strikefire
    Vortex Sparc

or should i save my pennies and go with an EOTech?

What are the pros and cons?

    Thank you all in advance!

The vortex optics and eotech's are two very different styles.. let a lone price ranges.

If you have the opportunity to, go to a store that stocks them both and look through them and see which one you like more.

your going to save a bit of money going Vortex. They have good reviews and seem like a durable product. And if your AR is only a range toy then there is no reason to spend 500 bucks on an optic you wont be trashing.

However, if you decide you would like to start running carbine courses and stuff, I suggest you get something that is built to take the abuse.

As far as the style... Personally I like Aimpoint type redots. Some dont. its a personal preference thing though man.

      Thanks for the insight.

I want something that is quality made but not going to break my checkbook. I like the EOTech's reticle and the ease of looking through it.

I am in the same boat. I am ready for an optic and I love the Eotech holo sight setup for accurate and fast 2 eye open snap shooting. Now that the tiny EXPS model is out with side mounted controls for access when using a magnifier, a quick detach lever and transverse mounted single CR123 battery...I think I am sold? Selling stuff on craigslist to raise the funds as we speak.

        Not my pics

I do like the XPS from Eotech...

I does look tough and would be a great setup. You can get your self a decent used one for not a whole lot.

Or go for a group buy...

If you want to hunt join arfcom and m4carbine.net as well and watch the market place man

Hope you find what you want!

get an Aimpoint micro and never look back. H1 if you dont need NV capabilities.

battery life is superior to anything on the market, with the exception of an M4/M4s. Its pretty much bomb proof too. Oh yea, its light. REALLY Light.

I found one of mine used on M4c.net for $350
