    Vortex Crossfire Scopes - Durability?

I'm hoping some owners/vendors can tell me the durability of the scope. I've narrowed it down to a 6-24x50. However I want to know if it will handle the recoil of a plain old bolt action .308. I know what to expect as far as quality and features... but not to much about the durability. Anybody shoot with a higher caliber or have a lot of rounds down the pipe that can chime in?

    Thanks in advance

I read a few comments about it off of Snipershide.com . Mixed reviews but most seemed positive. Some guys had the reticle start to spin loose. Vortex did exchange those scopes out so the warranty seems good. I have one on order with an expected mid October delivery date from SWFA. Haven't decided if I want it on my rimfire Remington 40X or the 700 PSS in .308 Winchester. $111 and some change shipped.

I've read quite a few reviews but it mostly seemed to be on smaller caliber platforms. The one constant I always came across was how great the CS @ Vortex was. So I'll give her a go and see what happens. I haven't put any optics on the XS7 and she's just been sitting for close to 6 months now. It will almost be like having a new gun

I don’t have the crossfire but I have a Vortex Diamondback series 3-9x40... I would say it’s pretty damn good for the money. I bought it for the warranty and the optics in the price range were very good. I could have done worse for the money.

I like Vortex; I would buy from them again… Try the crossfire; I wouldn’t expect a miracle as the crossfire is the budget end of their spectrum.

I’m saving my pennies for a couple Vortex PST scopes right now…

If you actually break the scope, their warranty will take care of you. I put my Diamondback on my 12 gauge just for the hell of it, took 25 shots, put it back on my AR and it still held zero. Not really a scientific test, but it satisfied my curiosity.

          Thanks

I own a Strikefire and I've been happy with it on my AR.

So I've rolled the dice, what's the worst thing that can happen

Mine is getting here on Monday as well. For some reason me tracking it multiple times a day hasn't made it get here any sooner

I'll do a quick 0 at 25 yards before I do the real trials next weekend.

I had to order a cheap *** Plano case for now. I have a few soft cases laying around but none will accommodate my XS7 with optics attached. I have to decide if I'm going to strip off the bipod from my Marlin .22.

                Mounted it. Initial impressions...

The glass is good, I like the clarity. Not spectacular, but more than adequate.
Turrets, good. Not mushy but could be crisper.
Eye relief, good. Could use another .5-1" or so, but I'm shooting .308 so I'm not worried.
Included covers feel cheap. Must replace them with some Butler Creek covers when I have a chance.

Did a very rough 0 tonight. It will save me a lot of time this weekend.

Nothing really new to report. It's not like she broke or anything, but I probably only put 20-30rds downrange. Eye relief wasn't a problem even at x16. We'll see if she holds zero this weekend. So far I'm not regretting only spending $200 on the scope.
