    Eotech for a SOCOM 16

Can anyone recommend an EOTECH or other similar site for a SOCOM 16?

Eotech or Aimpoint are the preeminent choices for red-dot combat sights, whenever magnification is not needed. On a SOCOM M1A, i might go for a 1-4X at a minimum. You have the range why not use it?

http://www.cstactical.com/Elcan/OPTI...cal-Sight.html . . . if you're feeling really flush! But in any case, consider a 1X variable scope that also has some magnification, you'll utilize a lot more of the capability of the rifle, and the round. But you'll still have the fast CQB capability of the red dot systems.

i was gonna throw a xps3-0 on one(when i actually get a socom). i missed out on a deal in the for sale forum (stinkin bills). not sure how it'll work out but it was my plan.

i read something about putting a 1x optic further up front for faster target acquisition.

There's a lot out there in the 1-? X range. Look at CS Tactical for some excellent choices. Mike Cecil the owner will help you find a fit for your rifle. Super straight-up dude too. No BS.

aimpoint micro would be my choice if going for a 1x red dot style.

+1 that rifle is already heavy, it would probably be benefical to save weight with a small optic like that

I am going with a good pistol scope. Haven't yet made up my mind which one. It will be variable power and have cross hairs you can see at various distances. I feel that a Eotech's dot will cover your target at certain yards, like the front site of the SOCOM 16 on a bulls eye target at 100yrds. Also don't forget that your cheek weld will be higher no matter which way you go. That will mean that a adjustable cheek piece will be needed to comfortably shoulder the rifle to the same spot each and everytime. Just me 2 cents. If you need more help m14 forums is a good place to ask this question.Good luck.
