Eotech G23 alternatives

I would like to get a magnifier for my 557 but I really can't bring myself to shell out the 500 bucks for the eotech g23.

Anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced magnifier for general plinking?

Note: I imagine the 7mm raised base on the 557 would be a factor.

I have the 557 also, but I am getting the La Rue LT649-T mount with the Burris 3x AR magnifier. http://www.burristactical.com/artripler.html

Did you already get the Tripler? If not, look at the VMX3. I've had the Tripler and the Vortex has better eye relief.

However, I just got it. I'll RMA it back to the place I bought it from. Even with having to pay return shipping, the Vortex is still $50 cheaper.

I just got the VMX3 today and it looks pretty good. Only got to play with it for a minute before I left for work. But, the optic was clean and sharp, the build quality appeared solid and the eye relief was good. It even came with a cheap mount that works ok with my 557 eotech. Still waiting for the larue mount to come. Me thinks it will be a while. The wheels of larue appear to turn very slow.
