Varmint rifle scope recommendation

I need to replace the scope on my Savage 223 with something, erm, better. I'd like to keep it around $350 or under. I have a Bushnell Banner scope on my varmint AR, and that seems to work well. It's 6-18x50mm, and I'd like something similar for the Savage. If worse comes to worse, I'll just get another Banner.

Any more magnification gets harder to find critters, because your FOV on higher magnifications is much too small, IMO.

Bushnell Elite 3200. Good bang for the buck.

a wee bit higher in cost than you mentioned but I am very happy with Bushnell's Elite 4200 series 6-24x40 on my .17HMR and 8-32x40 on my .204 Ruger. the higher magnification does make the FOV smaller as mentioned though.

I do like the super sniper but most likely wouldnt use a fixed power scope for varmint hunting...Id look into a nikon buckmaster with adjustable power...they have really clear glass and are affordable..

Fixed power... not good for varmint hunting.

Mil-Dot.... too busy for varmint hunting.

Super Sniper? Low end 'tactical' scope. Hardly worth it for a varmint rig, IMO.


Ideally you want a target dot, or fine duplex for a varmint scope.

That's looks pretty nice, but I wouldn't want the BDC reticle. I'm leaning towards the Bushnell 3200 series. Thanks for the help everyone.

A buddy of mine had a Burris 4.5-14 x 42 and it was nice! Clear lens and all. I believe it's this one for $329 (with dealer pricing, $349 without):

I have same scope on varmit Ar, I keep looking for a reason to change it, but it just seemes to do the job, Im just not shure how acurate the clicks are.
