What bases are you using? Weaver makes bases for most Mauser models. Make sure you have the right part # for your application. On the shims it's trial and error -
I cut a coke can into thin strips. I shim my Leupold to one inch rings on my Anschutz 1712, not because its maxed out but rather to center the windage and elevation adjustment.
