    Hanguns with optics/scopes?

I've been thinking about this lately. Wanted to ask a couple questions...

Is it practical? If so... Why doesn't this seem to be popular with armed forces?

I put an Aimpoint Micro on my wife's .357 and we're more accurate at 25 yds then some folks with ARs at 15 yds at our local range. It takes some getting used to, but it's dead on.

As far as the military, I would guess they don't use 'em because the pistol isn't the primary weapon and also because of the expense. We prefer them to be farther away then pistol range when sending them to Allah!

Military logic is direct and to the point. Pilots, MPs, Officers carry sidearms to shoot someone in the face from 20 feet away. Pilots pushed for smaller firearms with more ammo because they feared wild animals like dogs more then enemy soliders. An 8 shot .45 is nothing against 20 armed soldiers, but a 15 shot 9mm gave them more options.

In the past optics on pistols was for target shooting. Now that Trijicon, Dr optics and C-more have come out with hard core red dots smaller then anything seen in the past, we may see combat pistol optics in the future.

Its just not there yet. For Home defense, sure since you are talking about an extremly limited fire fight.
