    Scope Recomendation

I'm starting my .308 project, which is starting with an FNH Patrol Bolt 18" and ends with glass I can't seem to decide on. It's not that I can can't choose between specific ones. I just don't know of any that fit my criteria. What I'm looking for in a scope is:

-Variable power (preferable up to x24)
    -First Focal Point
    -Mil-dot reticule
    -Sunshade
-In the $600 or less range.

Any ideas? I recently looked at a Barska SWAT Tactical scope, and I wasn't very impressed by the turret quality. The clicks did not seem to determine the adjustment, they just seems to glide anywhere you put them between clicks or on them. I loved the glass quality otherwise, but the turrets seemed lacking in precise quality.

I like the Calguns price on that scope.

That model though does not come in Mil-dot. I found another scope by them that has it that I like a lot.

Who would I talk to about a Calguns price on this one?

ask for Scott. my personal opinion on mil dots they cover to much of the target for fine work, specially on first focal plane scope on high maginification. good hash marks work better.

And why do you need all that magnification? 15X is plenty for most people.

My rifle is going to be a hunting/target rig, and my instructor for my long range shooting is military. He's going to be teaching me the mill system.

Because I'm not like most people.

You can get a mil scale reticle which is still on the mil system but uses hash marks instead of dots. However, given your requested price range, your choices are fairly limited. The SWFA SS will probably come closest to meeting all your criteria. Don't even waste your time or money with the junk from Barska.

I think I'm going to go with the Vortex I posed above. Thank you Adam for recommending them to me. Vortex's unconditional warranty won me over.
