EOTech elevation and wind adjustment question

Why are they screws? Do they have knob style replacements for on the fly changes? I just dont understand why something that is considered a combat sight needs a tool to adjust it. I know they are a cqb sight primarily and say you have it zeroed in for 50 yards but you have a magnifier on it and you flip it over for a 300 yard engagement, how much bullet drop are you going to get? it seems having a magnifier would be absolutely pointless because of how much bullet drop there is going to be, i mean how many people would be able to accurately put rounds on their target it would just be spray and pray or is there something about the eotech that im missing?

you kind of answer your own question, if your range is say 15-100 yards you think 5-10 MPH wind is going to make you miss a human size torsol? At most, the bullet might drift a .5".

well actually you dont need to do any wind adjustment for under 200 yards unless its extremely windy or your looking to get quarter size groups but not for a body size target, im talking about going from 50 yards to 300 in the blink of an eye or say you have full wind value but suddenly you have to engage at no wind value or half value, now if I got in a fire fight i would obviously use Kentucky windage and texas elevation in the civilian world but if I had a fire team putting down covering fire I might want to make the needed adjustment, but the fact that i dont have a choice is what bugs me about it. I just thought that there was something i was missing about the eotech, but now that i know you cant do these thing i would never trust my life with a eotech or put it in a combat situation, its like one you go out of the wire you are stuck with your settings, just seems crazy to me.

your other option is a US Optics SN-4... the knobs are positive clicks and covered in caps, you can get access fairly quickly by removing the caps, front focal helps as you can be 1x thru 4 x. Been very useful in Iraq and Afganistan.
