Night Vision, will it ever be affordable.

I'm buying an Aimpoint CompM3, they sent me the ML3 by mistake. It is identical except it does not have red dot settings for night vision. I looked at some NV prices, ouch. Is it available, or will it ever be more available. Will spending an extra $50 on the scope help resale if it is NV compatible?

You could get a MW2 headset...its like 50bucks on ebay!!! or get it free with Modern Warefare 2!!

Seriously though, NVD systems were not designed for commercial use, Pricing will go down as new technologies come out but, not alot because of concerns of proliferation. It's always good to keep that NV option open but not necesarily. It all depends on who's buying. BTW be careful if you're considering ATN gear. Buyer beware!

Hey it does work though I tried it when my son got his X360 disc set and sure enough, it worked pretty good.

The "idea" just needs to take off, then more companies will make them.

This post is kind of all over the place so I will break it up.

Night Vision, will it ever be affordable.
Depends on what you think is affordable. When I bought Gen 3 PVS-7 a few years ago they were the same price they sell for now. I got a good deal on a PVS-14 and sold my 7's for what I paid for. $3k ish.

I'm buying an Aimpoint CompM3, they sent me the ML3 by mistake. It is identical except it does not have red dot settings for night vision. I looked at some NV prices, ouch.
Hope they gave you a refund for the difference.

Is it available, or will it ever be more available.
Anyone can buy night vision. Many places have it in stock so it just depends on if you want to fork over the coin.

Depends on the market. People who have night vision tend not to buy otics not compatable with it. Non compatable sights can ruin night vision. But given the price many people won't buy NV and will not have any need for those optics.

        Hope this helps.

Sure it will one day be affordable. But by the time Gen3 is $49.95 you will be wanting the Gen8 stuff. :-)

Yea that's what the UN police wear when they land on freeways outside of Vegas at night.
