    BARSKA ???

Has anybody tried these scopes? They're on the lower end of the price range. Just curious as to the popular vote (as far as the cheaper side goes)
    Thanks.

I'd say pass. My friend had one on his airsoft gun and it died from that recoil on that.

There are plenty of other good low cost optics that are out on the market. Were you looking for a red dot scope or a rifle scope?

I picked up a pair of their 15X binocs with the huge (70mm I think) objective lens' at Big 5 on sale for 50 bucks (display model) normally like $200. I almost never buy from Big 5 unless it's something on sale. They work nicely.

I wouldn't mind seeing how one of these 10x40 50mm Barskas would work on my 10/22 as a long range target scope. Would be cool to be able to see the bullets actually making the holes. Their site says everything is half off. The 10x40 model below in on fleebay for $200. Huge scope though, especially with the 5" sun shade. I think with the sun shade it's about 21" long.

I bought one for my AR that was on sale. I had just built it and didn't know what i wanted but I really wanted to shoot it. It does the job you'd expect for $30 but I'm still trying to figure out what I want to replace it with. It isn't horrible, but you do get what you pay for.

This forum is making me spend money LOL. I wanted to get a higher power scope for my 10/22 anyway that I'm turning into something I can use as either a bench rest or free hand shooting.

I ordered a Barska 6-24x50mm Excavator from Midawy for 116 shipped with $10 promo code. Comes with a 3" sunshade which brings the overall length to 16". Other models like the Swat, Benchmark and Tactical were too long with sunshade for my lil' Ruger and were 30MM tubes and I wanted to use the 1" rings I already have. They are on clearance at Midway. Didn't choose that model because it was clearance, it was between that or the 8-32 power model. Originally I was set on getting a 10-40 power but then realized that 10 power would be a bit much for free hand shooting at closer ranges, so I went with 6-24. My old scope I always left set at 9, so this should work well as a plinking and bench type scope. Also I always hear that the higher power setting you go, the less clear the images get, especially with lower grade optics like these Barskas.

I'm hoping the scope rings I have now will work. It's gonna be pretty dang close to the barrel but should just clear it.

The guy that had a Barska that broke on his airgun... If it was a spring powered airgun/rifle, they require specially designed scopes for spring piston airguns because they have two way recoil. You can use a $$$$ scope that will work on say a 30-06 but may break on a spring powered air rifle.

Scope has been shipped and should be able to give you a shooting review next saturday.

+1. I bought a 20-60X Barska spotting scope for $50. It's not great but it gets the job done. I wouldn't buy a Barska rifle scope. There's better scopes out there for slightly more.

I bought one 6x? for cheap to use on a 10/22. I didn't use it much and it broke within a few months. I called Barska about their warranty and was told it was $35 just to look at it. With the cost of shipping and the "warranty fee", it cost more than I paid for the scope. It went into the trash. The glass was what you'd expect for a cheap scope. I look at it as "lesson learned".

Had a Barska spotting scope and returned it. Wouldn't focus at the higher magnifications and eye relief terrible

I had a similar problem with another brand of cheapo scope. You have to watch out for that "warranty fee"

I bought a UAG brand scope on ebay for my SKS. The scope had a lifetime warranty. The scope broke after 10 rounds. I was going to send it back, but there was a $20 "handling fee," plus the shipping to them. The total cost was more than what I paid for it.

P.S. Why did you throw it in the trash? You should have used it as a target.

The first one I tried was the 30mm all steel construction? 1.25 -4.5X model. Initial mounting...I didn't use a rifle rest so the scope slipped from my hand and fell 3 feet onto the carpet. It has become a fixed 4X scope ever since.
Second try, I got the then-new 2.5 - 10x AO model and carefully mounted it onto a 22LR bolt gun. It has performed well at the 100 yard range. Though I am not sure whether the adjustable objective feature actually makes a difference.

My Barska came in today and I installed it on the gun. The scope rings I have from the previous 40mm scope worked perfect, with the Barska's 50mm objective. There is about 1/8 to 3/16th clearance to the barrel. Played with the focus and eye relief all fine.

The lighted dot should work in low lighting fine but in bright sunlight doubt it but will find out tomorrow. I don't care about the lighted dot and didn't have intentions of using it anyway, since I shoot in direct sunlight.

Their site said the scope was 13" long and it was 16" long. I called and lady said measurements were without a sunshade installed, egh wrong. With the 3" sunshade it was 19" long. some might think man you must be pissed. Oh no just the opposite. The end of the sunshade stops just short of the end of the stock, which is what I wanted. It looks awesome and the optics are great for a $116 scope shipped to your door.

I will put it through it's paces friday and see if I can break it LOL. And I'll throw up some pics too.
