    Counter Sniper gunsight worthwhile?

Sportsmans Guide has a whopping big 4-48x56mm scoper or gunsight (AXA2-181389)or WX2-181389 from a supposed govt overrun for $944 down from $3400. Has anyone had any recent experience with them? Some older posts say they are too new to evaluate and one of my favorites says :

Their website was full of meaningless marketing jibber-jabber (Bertrillium-Zantitium? Hard earth sealed?), and several people have concluded they're rebranded Barska. I'd stay far, far away.
There are some threads on them over at arfcom, like these:
CounterSniper scopes are shipping, range report next weeksorry folks, didn't realize I was opening myself up like that , tough crowd. Just thought you might be interested in a range report. If folks

What do you think of them, good or bad. Lets here some facts based on experience. I am going to order 11 units and would like to here some info before I lay the cash out for these scopes. The one I am

Translated, they're made of Crapalloy and treated with Unobtanium.

Is the general thought that they are like ATN and mostly for show?

Sounds like junk with a hyped marketing flare.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

It IS junk. I wouldn't pay $50 for one.

      Zantitium Bertrillium. Nuff said.

Countersniper exists because a sucker is born every minute. I have a friend who owns one. He was born right on time.

+1. It's been reviewed and tested to be junk. Buy a name brand and you'll be happier.

Have you seen how much "Military" info is plastered on every piece of them? There's more written on one of those scopes than on the back of a Disneyland ticket.

There was a review test done on a CS scope at Sniper Hide. Look it up and read it. It didn't fair well to say the least.

                Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

I was afraid that this was more junk like the big ATN I bought years ago and all the reviews confirm that. You get what you pay for, or if you buy a counter sniper, you get less. Perhaps counter sniper means it works best if left on the kitchen counter?

The Snipers Hide review is a blast to read and I highly recomend it for entertainment value alone. Plus Shankster has a very interesting animated avatar.

It's all marketing. Wait for the special on the counter-counter-sniper sight!

No, these are NOT junk. I OWN one. The optics are the clearest and finest i have ever seen. The construction is solid and robust, nice turrets. Heavy, great illumination, i can't find a flaw.

I have seen SG pull this junk marketing crap with computers and electronics before but nothing to this magnitude aimed at hunters and gun owners. This pisses me off. Combine this with their price gouging when ammo was scarce and I don't think I will ever buy anything from them again, unless it's some cool military surplus stuff I can't get anywhere else.

You must be lucky. As I stated earlier in this necropost, my friend owns a Countersniper mounted on a Savage 10. All of his optics on every rifle he owns are junk, but he decided to pony up some big money for a scope, and ended up with his China-made Countersniper.

Maybe your scope holds zero, but his Countersniper is absolute garbage. At high magnification, the image is dark (but better than his Barska, I'll give you that.) The turrets are terrible. They are flimsy with lots of hysteresis--worse than my $110 Mueller scope. I don't know how much ammo he's wasted trying to zero that thing. The worst part is, the adjustments are not accurate or predictable, and once you think you've zeroed the scope to the rifle, it shifts. Mediocre optics notwithstanding, the mechanical problems make it a no-go. His example convinces me that people singing the praises of Countersniper are either paid by the company to provide misinformation on forums and dealer sites like Midway, or they are unfortunate owners who haven't actually tried to zero the scope or shoot a group with it.

Given the high price of the scope, I really hope you got a good one. Seems like there's lots of lemons out there.

You would think that your friend would wise up and buy the good stuff. Some people just never learn.

LOL! Yeah, although he's been shooting for nearly 20 years, and he's just starting to see the value of a good optic. Up until he got the Countersniper, all his optics were Barska and NCStar. He turned up his nose at my Leupold, saying, "that's an expensive scope." IMO, expensive is paying for something twice. And then he paid more for his Countersniper than I did on that Leupold. He actually believed that Countersnipers were government overruns and that the military uses Dark Ops products. I don't have the heart to tell him. Am I being a bad friend?
