    JeffU ACOG

I know a lot of people have recently bought these. What is the feelings about them? I have heard a lot of good things about the initial reaction but nothing from anyone who has used it for a significant period of time. Also a lot of people say they dont have a lot of experience so they have nothing to compare it to. Anyone with some experience have any input? What about the red dot? Like/dislikes? Better off with the iron sights? Also what is a good alternative that is in this price range?

I have one of those ACOG 4x clones and I like it. It holds zero with a .223 no problem, and I am told that it will also hold on a .308. We will see on the latter, as I have one now mounted on my DPMS LR-308, but have not taken it to the range. Mine also has the clone red dot Docter sight on top. The device looks pretty well made. I think I paid around $200, including shipping as I recall.
Mine did not come from JeffU, but he has a very good rep as an active Calgunner and I think you would be fine buying from him.

I've been looking into these too. Even followed up with a few people who purchased them. Everyone assures me JeffU is a great guy...great seller and will stand behind his products, but I can't really get any reviews, positive or negative on these clones.

The markings are slightly smaller than a real ACOG. I've heard they hold zero well so many times I'd believe it. They really look 95% like a real acog.....unless you HAVE a real acog. I'd be more afraid of people stealing the fake than the real one.

I will tell you that Jeff stands behind his product 100% and his customer service is top-notch. However, I had problems with my acog clone from him. Finish was blemished, mount canted, and after 40 rounds there were dozens of particles stuck to the inside of the glass.

Jeff refunded my money and assured me that it was just a defective unit, and I do believe him. I decided not to try out another one though. Currently I'm looking for a new optic-- no more clones for me.

Kinda an apples to oranges comparison. One has fixed magnification the other has adjustable. I have a DMS and it is pretty good for the money, glass is fairly clear and you would have to pay double the cash for a real difference in quality.

Don't forget you have to buy a mount for the DMS, which increases the cost compared to acog clone. I wouldn't go with anything cheaper than the burris peprs mount.

I don't think JeffU has ever said what country these things are from, what, if any, brand these things are, etc. I have a feeling, though some might be OK, that there is little quality control and quality of the glass, material, etc, might vary widely. If Jeff is willing to guarantee with a refund, then go for it. Otherwise, there are tons of other cheap options out there from clone companies where at least you know where they are made and they seem to have a company standing behind them and not just a guy. Not to say anything against Mr. U.

Jeff has said they come from Japan. He has a relative who travels to Japan quite frequently who gets them for him. Jeff may not have a company standing behind his ACOG clones but he does have a lot of friends on this forum who can vouch for him. In my opinion, that is a pretty good guarantee. Jeff is a great guy who is a very honest seller. You get what you order with Jeff and nothing less. When I took one out for a day mounted on a 6.5 grendel AR and it held zero, I was sold. I don't recommend it as a home defense option though because it doesn't have the pedigree nor the history that companies like Trijicon, Aimpoint or EoTech have. There is a reason you pay the high prices of those companies. Just remember, you are not buying an ACOG for $240. You are buying a fixed 4 power optic that has good glass.

I know this is a crazy old resurrection, but I was wondering if anybody else out there has experience with this scope?

Also, does anyone know if it has any of the following features:

                      Fog proof
                      shock proof
                      water resistant/proof

                      Thank you!

First off, Jeffu is a great seller and stands behind the stuff he sells.

I bought one of the 4x ACOG looking scopes from him and had hoped for the best, but it didnt work out. I could never get the thing close to being zero'ed. I dont think it wandered, but there just wasnt enough adjustment. Looked great, felt great, glass was a little better than what you would expect from a clone, but it was certainly far from the real deal.

I told Jeffu about my troubles and he refunded me 100%. In fact, he has done this for me twice, once with a different product. So moral of the story is: Jeffu - 100%................cloned products - 0%

                        YMMV (but it likely wont).
