    3 gun optics help

I'd like to try the 3 gun sport. Not sure exactly what type of optics to consider or which are preferred.....some look very tactical, some look like regular rifle scopes. Red dots, illuminated, fibreoptic...I have no idea what to look for.

I would imagine that i'll need some optic that will allow me to shoot on the move and have some flexibility with respect to magnification.

Is there a preferred reticle type that most seem to favor. It will likely be mounted on a mini 14 platform but i also have a 522 so something that would work on an ar15 type of platform (223/5.56/22lr) as well would be great.

I'd like to keep it under $600 or so unless that's not prudent.

    thanks

Check out this setup. It's a Warne scope mount for a rifle scope and a platform for a Reflex sight. I heard more and more 3 guns shooters use this setup for mid range target acquisition and close range targets. YMMV.

2 optics = open class... I don't think you'll want to play that game starting out.

I would suggest you just go start playing and not sweat the optics until you've run a few times. You'll see what people have and get some experience on what you think will work for you - as well as getting to look through other people's stuff.

+1 on what aplinker wrote. The set up you pictured will put you in open class.
A lot of tactical shooters are running a 1-4 set up. Something like the Millet DMS or the Burris XTR. www.brianenos.com in the multi gun forum section has a whole list of scopes that 3 gun shooters use.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting
