    just bought eotech xps 3-0

Currently I am running a 16" flat top ar15 with fixed daniel defense rear buis and fixed fps. I am wondering if i need to sell my current sights and invest in some flip ups in order for my new eotech xps 3-0 to function properly. Also i would like to know if magnification would look funny with the eotech 65 moa circle with 1moa center dot.

I would at least get a rear flip sight. Most people leave the standard front sight post there as long as the red dot doesnt have to be set too low to where its in the way..

A fixed rear sight blocking most of the lense will just get in the way and block it from you using it to its full potential IMO

How do you like that model eotech so far on your AR? I have a guy wanting to trade me my new aimpoint for that same model, I might do it if its a decent fitting model

I think your current sights can work with a XPS if you use a la rue mount so you can co-witness the sights. I currently have my irons co-witnessed with my red dot and they take up the bottom 1/3'rd of the optic.

But if you are going to get magnification, then you have no choice but to get flip up sights because the fixed ones would just get in the way of the magnifier.

Your current setup will work if you like it. I am running the same setup right now with a larue tactical mount. But if you want a magnifer you will need a filp up rear sight. I used to run the primary arms magnifer behind my eotech with a troy buis and it was great for that type of setup.

How did you like your Primary Arms Magnifier?

            a lil off topic but...

What do you guys think of using those clone magnifiers with the real eotech. I've read so much about how the differences are very slight and i am one of those bang for the buck type of dudes. And if you were to go with a clone, which one do you know of has the best quality?

I would use the primary arms magnifer. Their 3X deluxe is very good quality and when I compared it side by side with an aimpoint magnifier I couldn't tell a differnce so I went with primary arms.

The biggest difference between the authentic AP magnifier vs. a clone like the PA is glass quality (around the edges) and the eye relief. The biggest issue is the eye relief. If you're plinking or shooting off the bench, you won't mind the short eye relief. If you're running and gunning, it's going to bother you.

ETA: The new Vortex magnifier is supposed to have generous eye relief but I have no experience with it. Perhaps, someone can post a review.

What do you guys think? do you think i can run a PA 5x mag with an arms #40L(low profile)? Also it looks kinda wierd absolute cowitnessed. The reticle gets kinda fuzzy to me maybe i dont understand how to use it.

other than your rear buis being backwards, it looks good.

I would personally keep the rear sight. I would also keep the FSB, since its probably the most rugged front sight you can get.

Function over fashion is my opinion. DD sights are some of the best.

that rear sight isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

                          update

i got an update for you guys. I bought the 4x magnifier from dm and i love it. Here are some pics

I really wanted to try using the riser but i guess they were manufactured poorly because then dont clear my picatinny rail and so they wont go through. I really want to be able to have my irons on but dont really want my eotech on the quad rail.
