    scope for a 1919?

1st post...What is a good scope for a 1919? Would it be even practical to mount one on?

I saw some pics of a guy up north who had a rail mounted to the top cover. I believe he had an aimpoint attached to it.

      He's probably a member here.

Actually I was just thinking out loud and probably wouldn't mount one on. Here's a clip of Dutch Commandos in Afghanistan that use an Elcan on a M2 50 BMG.

Instead of adding a fake supressor, how about just replacing the ventalated shroud with one machined to look like a sionics two stage suppressor. 16 inch long barrel, it'd look tight.

Don't think about adding a foregrip to it unless it is a registered AW.
              Please, calm down.

That's so yesterday. Been done, as well as the backpack and ammo chute trick.

As far as the optics go, there are weaver mounts for it out there. But there is so much slop in the barrel movement that it's pretty much pointless. Mine is probably a little better than most accuracy wise as I tightened up the clearance when I went shorty by making a special bushing and turning the barrel to fit.

I bought a scope mount for my 1919 from .........you know that place that advertises all the old military stuff from around the world in SGN. Anyway, they have them and no, I've never used mine. I got it just to have it.

Allied Armament has them for like 30 bucks. Its a base that you can mount over the top of the gun and still allow you to open the top cover. You can also flip the mount around and have the rail to the side.

Why not? Carlos Hathcock put a scope on a M2 during Vietnam...
