savage scope/ring advice

hey calgunners i just purchased a savage 10 predator hunter in shadow max 1 in 22/250 it comes with picatinny bases.now the search begins for scope and mounts i will be shooting yots and varmints from 100/700 yards any input is helpful

For a 22.250 I would recommend a 4-12X50mm scope. The 4X gives you a good field of view and the 12X let's you reach out and touch them. I like the the Varminter reticle on the Burris Fullfield II scope and have one mounted on my varminter AR for yotes.

An excellent yote-hunting gun! 22-250 is a great round.

For the type of yote calling commonly done in these parts (less than 200 yards, and often within 75 yards), you'll usually see 3-9x or 3-12x scopes. They commonly are left at 3x for hunting because you need that field of view. Look for a large objective lens (44mm or bigger) and a heavy, dark reticle to make low light shots easier. Or, alternatively an illuminated reticle. Talk to some varmint callers and see what they use. Your budget will determine the brand. On the lower end, I'd recommend Vortex, Nikon, and to a lesser degree Mueller and Bushnell. Midprice: Sightron SIII, Zeiss Conquest, and Meopta. Highend--eh don't go highend on a yote gun.

You already have picatinny bases, so don't bother with an EGW base--it would be redundant and besides EGW makes their bases from an extrusion. I have 24" of their extrusions to machine decent accessory rails, but I wouldn't use it for a scope base. It is not straight enough.

TPS rings (available from Brownells) are an excellent bargain. Burris Signature Zee's are also great rings for the money, and no ring marks or bent tubes.

If you really think you are going to take a 700yd shot at a coyote with a 22-250, you are delusional and extra scope power won't help you.

A 22-250 is NOT a WSM and deer are bigger than coyotes.
What twist rate is your 22-250 barrel?
