leupold VX 3

a friend of mine has two leupold vx 3 scopes that i may be able to pick up for cheap.

one is a 3.5 10x50

the other is a 5.6 20x50

i want a scope for my in progress AR build, but i've never bought or even shopped for optics before. main use would be varmint hunting, but it would definitely see range time as well.

can anyone comment on these, good or bad?
