trijicon acog recticle question...?

i am trying to decide which recticle pattern to choose. do all of the acog's have the silhoutte of a man in their backround? i really don't care for it but almost every one that i see has this...is this an option you can turn off or is this just how they are and part of the recticle?

i like the doughnut but not the silhoutte in there..if there was just a doughnut and drop off designations that would be great...otherwise i am going with the horseshoe and dot recticle.

The silhoutte is not part of the reticule the website is just showing you how it would look on a target.

i was worried about that...everyone has different tastes for how their eye hones in on the target.

probably gonna go with the ta31h

I have a TA11H-308. If I was doing it over, I probably wouldn't go with the horseshoe, as the 100yd aiming point is the top of the arc of the horeshoe, which isn't a very precise aiming point. It's workable, but imho, not the best option.

great pics..thanks for posting. i really like the first picture...easy to paint a target with the ch's...that is a nice recticle

didn't get a chance to call liberty but the place i purchased had some of the lowest prices out there...plus they had one in stock that i liked...a lot of places are out of stock right now on the trijicon acogs.

i ended up with the ta11...this is the red doughnut circle. all the other scopes were 4 weeks out on the 4x's...they only had green. the green is supposed to be better for daylight shooting but i just don't like that color to be honest so i passed. i didn't even save money dropping down but i am sure i will be happy with it. my magnification is 3.5 x 35 and illumination is day or night with the BAC. i got the quick release mount for cost since they were out of stock on the 4 x 32's. i really don't plan on shooting long range but still has the bullet drop compensator up to 800 meters...just a few more clicks then the 4 x's.

The TA33 is a newer scope that's considered a great option, especially since the eye relief is closer to 3 inches, rather than the 1.9 inches in the specs.

Good read. I know the TA01 & TA31 have horrible eye relief. You have to get right up to the eyepiece to see anything out of those ACOGs. With glasses or eye protection, it's even worse because the recoil will jab the eyepiece right into your glasses.

A rubber eyepiece cover is practically mandatory...

The TA11 is good, but the donut reticle isn't my favorite. I prefer the chevrons (TA11F)

The 3.5X sights are much more user friendly. You pay for it with a bit larger scope, though.

The TA01 tree reticle might seem clean, but it doesn't have BAC or illumination.

It is red illuminated at night. All TA01 & TA01NSNs have tritium.

Strange. So I just double checked myself as I own a TA31doc. Put on shooting glasses and grabbed my rifle and got a sight picture. No problem, and I still have an inch between the scope and my glasses.

So I don't agree with that assessment. I haven't had any issue shooting it like you put there on my AR. Sure it could be better, but it is perfectly fine with me - great scope BTW.
