    Scope Position Preference?

So, I got a Vortex Strikefire optic for my Keltec SU16CA. I mounted it in the center of the rail. Is there advantages/disadvantages in mounting it closer the one end or the other?

Not familier with the Vortex but from the picture it looks like a standard RDS.

If that is the case then it doesn't matter where you mount it because there would be no eye relief issues..

I would mount in a spot that gives the best balance to the rifle.

That's what I was thinking as well but wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Remember the idea of a red dot it quick target acquisition. I would think that if the sight is too close it could limit your view of surrounding targets.

I would agree. However, I personally feel this applies more to the "scoped" red dot sights. Something like an eotech or a Sig Sauer holosight I think is more beneficial to have mounted closer to your eye because you get a wider field of view through the optic. That's just my personal preference though. There is no rule to mounting an optic with unlimited eye relief.
