    Acog, Aimpoint or alternative.

I just finished getting my father's AR done...they are both basically DD M4's and I have an Aimpoint Comp M4 on mine. So on the way to get his rifle built tonight we talked and He dislikes how hard it is to shoot this weapon accurately at 100 yards because of the size of the dot (it's not going to get much better than that!). I explained to him that was because it was not magnified. I also explained that I was going to be getting a magnifier for it that would flip to the side. He disliked that it would not be one unit and said it was too much stuff. So tonight at JK Supply in Ione he looked at an Eotech and really did not care for it but DID really like the ACOG there. He just didnt like the price because it was so much more expensive. He is failry well off and COULD afford it but.....are there any alternatives worth looking into for something with some magnification?...or should I just tell him to shut up and buy the ACOG. I doubt he will be happy with an Aimpoint since he already critiqued mine bud did express be to in the 700 or less figure category.

edit: not looking for some chinese made clone but if there is a really solid alternative then throw it out there.

Sort of as a side tangent to having some of the same attributes - not the milspec robustness, but at a lower price did you look at some of the Trijicon Accupoint scopes?

I'd get the ACOG if you can afford it. Check out the Burris AR332, there's a review of it on here. I think it's fixed 3X and 2 or 3 hundred dollars.

I have a couple of acogs and love them... if he can afford them, he will not regret it. Just make sure he looks through one before he buys it. He may want more than 4x power.

I have and ACOG and love it! IF he does not like the "new" price then watch the Market Place section here on Calguns. I have seen them for 800.00 - 900.00

I just sold one of my ACOGs for $900 and that included a Larue mount. The deals are out there. Tell your dad to pony up and get an ACOG. They are rock solid and worth every penny.

              ACOG's are worth every penny.

I will, however, admit the Bindon Aiming Concept does take some getting used to.
