The short answer is- no, you will not be able to co-witness. -
At 4x you shouldn't even see the front sight.sigpic

On my TA31F, I saw a mild blur of the FSP occasionally but it never obstructed my view. Your good to go.Comment

This is mt experience also, there's an obvious blur but not in the wat of the reticle.
It did bug me though.
If you mount the ACOG on a carry handle the blur goes away.

Only issue is a tiny amount of glare reflected off the front sight post every now and again. I barely notice it when I had that particular setup. I am talking in addition to the blur referred to by other members.
I use a standard red dot sight now. An Aimpoint Comp M3. My M4 is setup for CQB courses. Run and gun stuff. Most shots in those courses are up close and personal. Very few long distance shots. So the ACOG is something of a liability for that type of work. You can work around it, but why? If you are not using your rifle CQB work or training, then it doesn't matter.
If you must have an all around rifle (both CQB and semi-precission all in one) then I recommend Trijicon's Accupoint scopes. Get one starting a 1x or 1.5x going all the way upto the 4x you would get from the ACCOG (or more). That way it will work well for both CQB and medium range shots.
I have a 308 AR for my range queen. It has a 3.5-14x50 scope on it. Something to hold me over until I can afford a Leupold. So I am fine with no magnification on my 5.56mm M4. Right tool for the right job and all that. It just means my M4gery is not my bench rest rifle is all.Last edited by tacticalcity; 03-08-2010, 3:58 PM.Comment
