Fake Eotech and Aimpoint quality

Hey guys,

In the process of gathering parts for my first AR build and I am first going to get good irons to train and practice with but would like to throw some optics on it. Would it even be worth the time to buy the fake or knockoff eotechs ot aimpoints? I have seen some for really inexpensive and my thought process was its only a little bit of money so if they dont work its not like I dropped 500 bucks.

i would absolutely say no. I have yet to find something that is a knock off that works. and stays working. you can get decent aimpoints that kick butt for good price.

Definitely a no-go for cloned optics. In my personal experience, there are very few cloned products that are worth anything. Im not saying all of them are worthless, but most of them. The optic needs to hold zero.....the most important part of the weapon. Otherwise it's useless! You can get a quality red dot for just as much as a good clone (and by good, i mean good looking, not necessarily good functioning).

If you want the best, pay like the rest.

If you figure it's around $200 for GOOD irons and the knock-off optics are only around $250-$300 cheaper than the clones, I would recommend skipping the irons and just getting the GOOD optics.
If you find yourself lacking the irons later, then buy some cheap irons.
The likelyhood of EVER needing the irons when you buy GOOD optics is so low that I don't personally have iron sights on my guns BECAUSE I have never had an optics failure.
That's BECAUSE I only use good optics though...

cost effective would be good optics that will last....., and out last knocks.., that for example if you drop or hit than reticle may be done. if cant afford than train with iron and than save.

Yeah I kinda figured thats what I would hear. I DO want to spend the coin on a Nice eotech but thats once I get myself a job. I am slowly gathering a lot of parts though so I just want to get some of your guys opinions.

my recommendation if you want eotech features that cost less, try the bushnell holosight. it is internally, almost the same as an eotech. it even looks the same, just without the big cover over the top. lots of people use them, love them, cherish them

it IS a good sight. alot of people say that the bushnell and eotech are made in the same factory. the only difference being, the protective hood and nightvision capability. so if you plan on roughing up your sight, or going on a night mission through the streets of fallujah, an eotech might be worth saving for. otherwise, the holo is very similar.

I may go that route cause I am going to paint the hood on it anyway to match my FDE magpul stuff I got on order.

Check daily in the for sale section for parts/optics and you will find something for $300 or under.... I've sold an Aimpoint 9000SC for like $220 before and an Eotech 511 for maybe $290? I've seen many do the same just be patient and if money is tight find a bargain.
