Ar-15 Front sight blocking scope line of sight???

I have just completed my Ar-15 lower assembly and am looking for a low budget upper for hunting coyotes. I am considering DPMS, Stag Arms, and Armalite. From what I have seen many of the lower priced lowers have the A2 front sight on them. I want to put a 3-9 variable scope on my upper. I am afraid that this front sight will impede my view. Some people have told me that the front sight will not be visible in the scopes line of sight due to the parallax viewing error (in this case that would be great!). Has anyone had any experience with this? What are you thoughts?

It won't be very visible due to the scope not being designed to focus on anything that close. Exactly how visible will depend on the scope and how you use it.

The front sight base shadow bothers some people, but I tune it out. A folding or removable front sight avoids this, at a higher cost.

I have a 1 by 4x optic on my AR and at anything higher then 1.5 magnification its disapears anything lower and its a little blurry

i have a 4-12 simmons on my Ar with leupold high rings and i cna t even tell the a2 front sight is there.

What size spacers are you guys useing on top of your rail to attach your scope ?

It's still needed as a gas block.

Use a riser with a m4 front sight and a scope of just get used to the shadow.

If something happens to your scope, it's good to have iron sights as a backup.

As far as scope height, you have a couple of choices:

- Raise the scope enough to get above the iron sight, which means you're using 2 cheek welds/shoulder mounts as you shoot - one for the scope, one for iron sights. Many people need a riser on the stock to get a decent cheek weld with this setup.

- Keep the scope centerline about the same as the iron sights - 1.4" above the rail - which lets you use the same cheek weld/shoulder mount for optics or iron sights, but can give you a little scope blur.

I'm a big fan of repeatable shoulder mount and muscle memory, so you can get the rifle up and in place without thinking about what's mounted. The sight blur doesn't bother me.

A.R.M.S. makes a folding front sight ,got one on mine looks like I'am going to have to play games for a front swivel. Not sure if I like it. Armalite makes a good mount about 80.00-100.00 Colt's got one on sale@ ebay for about 60.00-70.00.,Promag has one for 40.00 I don't like the way the knobs are on the rt. side hasn't been a problem yet wish I could push it a little farther forward I'am a stock crawler.
