    Buying an Aimpoint CompM4S

It's time for a red dot and I'm considering being fiscally irresponsible and buying an Aimpoint CompM4S for my AR.

Before I'm past the point of no return, does anyone have words of wisdom that might confirm this choice, or point me to a different model or make? Is the M4 really worth all that money? I've read about the R1, T1, M3, Primary Arms, etc. and am thoroughly sick of specs and marketing blurbs.

My criteria: red dot, 2 MOA, NVD an unnecessary bonus, must be very durable and hold its zero. Must also be useable with fixed LMT front and rear sights which, with the included riser, would presumably put the sight axis in the lower third of the optic. My personal philosophy is "don't buy crap" and "you get what you pay for", although at some point things can just cost too much.

Also, where's a reliable and not too expensive place to order this from?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Is there a reason you're wanting the M4>Micro?

I sold both my M4's & several M3's... with the exception of an M1A (which just look right with the M3) I'm all Micros now.

The dot size difference between the Micro (it's NOT really 4MOA as the difference in lenses makes it smaller) and a 2MOA is very small. The Micro is more like 3MOA. The smaller profile gives you better heads-up view of surroundings (less is obscured). The weight is dramatically less.

The only negative is the batteries on the Micro are those CR2032 big flat ****ers - but the good news is you won't need to replace it for about 5 years - IF you leave it on all the time!

The size and weight savings are well worth it, IMHO. You also save about $75 +/-, including mount.

OK, so after reading yet MORE posts, blogs, etc., I cannot see any reason why I shouldn't get an H-1 Micro instead of the M4S. My uses are HD and target shooting so I really don't need the NV or water resistance of the M4.

The only fault is the 4 MOA, and I'll make the leap and assume it won't be a problem.

Looks like Botach has great prices right now...Thanks everyone for your input

I just had an order with botach. They indicated that they shipped an item that wasn't in the box. When I called, they said that it had been discontinued and I wasn't charged, which I had already confirmed.

Was also difficult to get them on the phone. The regular number is hooked up to an unconfigured Google Voice account. Call the government contract number and navigate the phone menu to the normal sales/cs number.

Seems like the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing...

I wound up ordering my H-1 from LaRue because the Botach mount for the H-1 is not tall enough for a lower 1/3 cowitness with iron sights.
