    canted reticle

New Leupold scope, the reticle is canted noticably compared to the turrets.

I mounted rifle in vise and leveled the scope rail with a bubble level.
Mounted scope and leveled it with the crosshairs to a plumb line, the turrets seemed off level, checked turrets with bubble level and they are off.

Then used the bubble level to set scope on the level, and the crosshairs are canted.

I don't know if I should send it back to Leupold, or try and return it to the vendor (SWFA). I found out reading online that Leupold will consider 3* acceptable, which is totally unacceptable.

    Which model?

    And how much CANT?

If you level your scope, and post a vertical line at like 25yds, you should be able to spot your degree cant...

VX-3, 3.5-10x40 (I don't have it in front of me to get the model #)

Enough cant that it was noticable by looking at the turrets after leveling the scope by it's crosshairs.

If I get time tonight, I'll hang my 20" camshaft degree wheel on the wall and measure how many degrees it's off.

Yes, send it back. I hope it's actually more than 3 degrees off so they will fix it for you.

Send it back. That's too much $$$ not to be perfect.
