Both eyes open on 1 power question

When I look through my 1 power red dot scope I see perfect as though there
is no glass in the scope, and I see the red dot perfect.

I'm in the market for a 1-4 power scope. At the gun shows I've looked at several scopes, and when on 1 power, I see two images that don't line up with both eyes open. It happens at the 1 power setting on every make and model of scope I try. Can anyone shed any light on what the problem may be on why it doesn't work for me like my red dot scope does?

Thank you so much for your input.

My guess is you are not looking at "good" scopes.
My Burris XTR 14 is a true 1x and unless you are looking at something within 3 feet, it is just like looking at a recital floating in space in front of you.
Now, I still can not co-witness with it, but I'm not aware of any "scope" that you can.
As far as both eyes open, for close shooting my XTR on 1x is almost as fast as my Aimpoint.
