Streamlight TLR-1 C4 Worth it?

I'm about to place a order for a Streamlight TLR-1 but am not sure which generation to pick up.

I have experience with the TLR-1 and it is a very nice light, but with the advances in technology I'm considering the TLR-1 C4.
Can someone with first hand experience comment on the differences between the two generations if any?

Comes down to brightness, the new C4 technology is LED and is very bright over the last generation. I have one on my Glock 22 and also my AR... I also have some for sale that are brand new.. Here is the link http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=242452

Ironically your post is what sparked this thread because I've found some great deals on the non C4 lights but was leaning more towards the C4 Technology.

C4 is great, it's very brights! I picked one up on a whim for my Glock 22 a couple months back for a great price.

Here it is tested..

The TLR-1 with C4 is awesome and makes a perfectly nice round beam. It has some throw for its size and it is the best bang for the buck out there.

Here is what it did in a real IS Sphere that measures lumens.

The one tested was mine and I still have it in great condition as it is not used much. (100 or so rounds on it for testing).

I want a Surefire X200 and I will trade for my TLR-1. Mine is brighter, but I want to hack it apart and put a XP-G R5 in it or a Malkoff M60 Complex task, but I think I can do it.

So who wants to trade?

how effective is the tlr-1 outdoors at longer distances? i'm considering one for a long gun. i've a streamlight m3 and i was dissappointed at making out targets clearly at 50 yds.

Sorry,
but you are not going to effectively light up 50 yards out on a long gun. You are better off with a high powered LED at 300~500 real Out the front lumens in a 6P type and then attach it to a 1in ring to the long gun. This handgun lights are effective for handgun shooting...yes bullseye shooters can do 50 yards but in general not most.

you might want to check out the tlr-3 it has the newer c4 cree tech. it's smaller, lighter , and cost less $$$ than the tlr1 80+ lumens BRIGHT!!!! great light lifetime warrt. http://www.botachtactical.com/sttl.html has them for $75-10% sooty

Yeah,
It runs on a single CR123 and appears it would fit 3in barrel guns.

I run a tlr2 on my g17..... GREAT for home defense.

No fumbeling for a flashlight... if you can find the gun you can light the target.... makes opening doors a breeze too... I was having a ton of trouble running a 2 inch smith and wesson snub and trying to operate a flashlight while opening doors.

I just got mine today (TLR-1).

At my office, I was messing with it, flashed my co-worker and blinded him for a little bit. It's pretty bright, even in the indoor light during the day.

It's going to be mounted between my G17 and 870. It's so easy to switch between the two.

I just got mine too and it is awsome! I am going to mount it to my Mossberg 930SPX. I chose the TLR-1 because of the remote switch.
