Had a discussion about buying a 50mm vs 40/42 mm objective rifle scope for low light conditions.
I contend that any scope that has an exit pupil size greater than the eye pupil which is 5-7mm is wasted light and does not provide more light in low light conditions.
The efficiency of light transmission through the scope is more important than objective size.
