    Trijicon Reflex

Anyone in the Orange County area have one? I am considering ditching the Aimpoint I have and getting one of those instead, but I wanted to get a little more fist-hand experience with one before I commit. I would love to try it out maybe at Lyttle Creek or if possible, swing it by the Brea Indoor range just so I can look through it. Any and All help appreciated!

Any reason for ditching the Aimpoint? Tough to beat them for ruggedness and battery life in a no magnification red-dot sight.

I have 2 models. The red triangle model and amber dot. The triangle model I got used and the amber dot was brand new. There's a noticeable difference is the brightness. If you don't have the polarizing cap on during a bright day, the dot can wash out. On very dim day, you'll need to take the cap off. One trick for indoor sighting for dim condition, is to get a flip scope cover. Put flip cover over the polarizing lens, screw it in. Indoors, flip the cap down and the trijicon becomes as OEG.

I give it a A+ for ruggedness. It's a solid hunk of aluminum. You can drop it and it won't lose the zero. Co-witnessing with a magnifier may been an issue. Tried it with cheapo mako magnifier with different height rings, and couldn't get it right.

Which did you like better? The amber dot or the triangle? Also, would you recommend the dot over an Aimpoint?

I prefer the amber dot. With triangle you pick the POI. Either triangle covering the target or tip of triangle as POI. I myself prefer the amber dot, just put the dot where you want to hit. The amber dot I have on my 9mm AR and have not had to re-sight in the 1 year I've had it on.

I would recommend the reflex if you don't care for doing the co-witnessing of magnifiers. Yes, the advantage it is it's always ready to go with no batteries. Servicing, you need to send it to Trijicon for lamp replacement, but that's like 10 years from now. Lowest end model trijicon reflex is around 300 without mount.

The closest red dot I have is the trijicon mini-red dot which is pretty cool, but feels fragile.

I was looking at the dot. Glad to see such a positive review! Would they replace it if I bought it from someone else, not them?

If you bought it used without original warranty, I believe they will repair for a fee as long it's not reported stolen.

Someone posted that the ACOG lamp replacement was 170, not sure about reflex. Give them a call.

I'd get it new unless you can score a great deal. Opticsplanet.com seems to have best pricing. If you need a mount, ping me. Have couple spares.

I have the RX01-10 amber dot with the cantilevered mount on the carry handle. It co-witnesses with the irons. It's about 15 years old now, starting to get dimmer I noticed. I e-mailed customer service and they said the tritium tube is not serviceable. I'm in mission viejo if you want to check it out though.

Did Trijicon used to make the dot in red? I was looking at their site, and all their reflex dots are amber/yellow now?

but when i saw it at 2 different gun stores earlier today, the dots were red? Are these older models that i saw perhaps?

Trijicon Reflex has used the amber tritium since I first got one in the early 90's.

I got the Trijicon RX30 (almost twice as big so you can "see more stuff").
I like it, it's very rugged, holds zero really well, had it on my carbine for a year now and never had to adjust it yet.
It works well, I was able to consistently hit 8 inch plates at 200 yards using the 1x scope (but then again, someone who knows what they're doing can do the same thing with iron sights).
I will say, the amber dot does get washed out in direct light, like facing the sun on a bright day.
At night or cloudy days I have no problem finding the dot.
The other drawback is my dot is 6.5MOA, what that means is it will completely cover up your target at 100 yards, all you see is the dot, no target, makes precision shots kinda tricky (but then again, this 1x scope is not designed for precision shots, it's designed for run n gun).
