because Premier just boosted their prices into S&B territory for 2010

OP - I have and love my Leupy 4.5-14x40 Mk4 LR/T with TMR reticle, but will tell you what's going on the next is a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50.

BDOG - Nothing wrong with them, but IMHO, they're heavy and the quality coming out of there has been less than satisfactory.

Already made that decision too...bought a NF for the 243 AI, and a S&B for the 338.

Can't imagine I'll need anything else.

I also use both, similiar to Stan, I find I prefer the contrast better in the Leupold.

However, everything else the Nightforce beats it. Slightly better clarity, brighter, better eye relief, larger FOV, more tactile turrets, and the matching reticles are a huge plus.

Leupold seem to better in contrast than the NF.

The Leupold is nice and lightweight but the Nightforce much nicer it.

To me, both are good, BUT, they fit in differently.

                            < $1000 Leupold
                            $1k-$2k Nightforce
                            $2k+ USO/Premier
                            even more S&B

If u find your choice priced in someone else's price range, just go get that other brand....

How much are you willing to spend on a scope.

Top of the line MK4 goes around 1.5-1.8k while a high end NF is upwards of 2.6k. USO is the highest priced but the most customizable.

For the price and what I have put my MK4 through I am thrilled with its performance.

From what I have seen the NF and USO are better used in competition and extreme long ranges with big bore caliber guns.
