    3x magnifier for AR

I've always used iron sights but anything to help my eye sight is not a bad idea.

Can I use a 3x magnifier with just iron sights? I like the option of flipping the magnifier out of the way when not needed.

Or is it stupid to have the 3x magnifier without a red dot?

I would really like an Aimpoint or EOTech magnifier and/or red dot but I dont have that kind of money..

I was looking at the Burris AR Tripler with their AR Pivot Ring. These any good? Any other good and inexpensive options out there?

How about red dots? The Bushnell Holo Sight good enough?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The 3x magnifier is only going to work with a red dot. I would suggest getting an Aimpoint 3x mag. and a cheap red dot for now (like leapers or something) till you can get a quality dot too!

any set-ups that you know of for cheap 3X magnifier that will work w/ an EOtech and Aimpoint (I have both 512 & M2)? I don't want to spend much on the magnifier, but would like to try one out w/out spendingmuch $$$.

Oh, I guess using only a magnifier is out of the question. An Aimpoint or EOTech would be super sweet but I cant see spending $400+ on the red dot, plus the mount, and then $600 for the magnifier, and the pivot mount.

Would the Burris AR Tripler with their Pivot ring work with the Bushnell Holo Sight?

Are you kicking in doors? Just but a Millet DMS $250 and be done. Works great from the bench and for 3 gun.

Nah.. I dont do none of that. I just like shooting. I either shoot at an outdoor range or on some BDM land. My eyes arent the greatest so a scope would be nice.

Im use to seeing ARs with an Aimpoint or EOTech but that Millet DMS is not too bad. How is it for close range and whatnot? Owners chime in..

So Im guessing that the Millet DMS wont co-witness with my DD A1.5 rear sight? Looks like I need a flip up BUIS now.

What mount is recommended to attach the scope to a flat top?

The DMS looks kind of big on the AR. Weight and balance not an issue? Is there another scope like the DMS but shorter?

How does the DMS compare to the Nikon Monarch African 8446?

Like I said, a DMS works great for 3gun. 5yd to 75yd, no prob. You cant co witness, but this is not your life or death rifle, so you dont need BUIS. Any AR mount will work, I use a Model 1 but if you have the dough buy a larue. Weight and balance are not an issue. Try and hump a FAL around.

Humping a FAL would suck but its a great battle rifle. The AK is my SHTF gun but it would be nice to have a rifle with low recoil setup for a little distance work.

                  Im thinking:

Option 1: Millet DMS w/ Magpul MBUS and extended scope mount
                  $28 Command Arms DVSR
                  $70 Burris AR-PEPR
                  $80 Model 1 Sales
                  $90 Armalite

Option 2: Millet DMS, Magpul MBUS w/ scout rail and scope rings
$42 Yankee Hill Machine Extended Picatinny-Style Riser Mount 6"
                  $45 Millet M4 Extended Picatinny-Style Riser Mount
                  $71 GG&G FIRE System Scout Rail 7"
                  $73 RRA scout rail
$85 Hahn Precision BUIS Cut Scout Rail

Option 3: Bushnell Holo Sight and Burris AR Tripler w/ pivot ring

I have a feeling the MBUS sight is too big to fit under a DMS. But you could get a Matech for the same money and it will just fit.

Yeah, I dont know if the MBUS will work or not. That was the first inexpensive rear flip up sight I could think of. So a Matech will work eh? Grr.. I just sold mine..

I guess if I wanted to use the Millett DMS, the easiest, and cheapest way would be to use the CAA DVSR mount, without a rear BUIS. Anybody used the DVSR with the DMS before? Im kind of short, so the LOP on my AR is not too far out, and this mount doesnt extend past the upper much, will this be a problem?
