If done properly in general i would say no. If you take a knife... I hear Duracoat is awesome esp if you let it cure properly. I have no personal exp. though.

Aimpoint and EOTech are the most "dependable", "proven" products.... but I don't think they are in your price range.

For $80, you probably have to stick with airsoft products... which are not good for firearms (IMO).... you are better off learning to shoot well with iron-sights... stick with the fundamentals...

Im looking to put this on a .22 pistol. i dont need an EOtech or Aimpoint in my opinion, if this were going on a decent rifle.. i would agree.

Im just going to duracoat the rail, and rings... leaving the current red dot i have on it black...

The gun is black. Barrel is red, grips will be red..... See the theme im going for? Thats why im specifically looking for a RED red dot.

I have a "Titanium" colored duracoated upper receiver for an AR and even after mounting rings and 1 piece mounts on there, it doesn't come off at all if done properly. I bought mine and JP had already duracoated it so I didn't have the choice. but its a great product.
