Looking for a scope base for a new winchester 70. I've been looking at the leupold std one piece. My question: if you were to use the windage screws on rear ring, wouldn't the scope be torqued sideways near the front ring? I know a lot of experienced shooters who recommend bases with windage screws. If one were to adjust windage on the base during zero fire, what is the technique?
Also, are the differences between one and two piece bases as noticable as some would have us believe? I mean, if a steel receiver will flex, why is a single aluminum sight base considered stronger than two aluminum pieces secured with the same torque? Thanks all.
