Do they actualy stock anything. I've only placed a couple orders but everything is always backordered.

I've always had good luck with them. Free shipping, and generally discount codes are pretty easy to come by.

Interestingly, the last time I placed an order, I received an e-mail from them notifying me that all three items I ordered were backordered. I was pissed.

Then, two or three days later, a box shows up on my doorstep with my complete order. Don't know what the SNAFU was, but I wasn't asking questions at that point.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them. In my experience they have approximately half of the stuff in their store in stock. I usually buy and just expect it will be backordered and cancel it if it is and I want it immediately. Many of these stores that sell tactical stuff are like this, they don't have much inventory and they just forward orders to the manufacturer.

I buy all my optics from them, when something I wanted was on back order I would call and the customer service would help me find and equivalent item

Optics Planet is on backorder many times on popular items. I'll hunt around the net for a better price and have them beat it. That's how I got most of my optics. They're pretty good in Customer Service, for me at least. I've asked them lots of questions and they'll come back with good advice and alternate items if something is out of stock. Although, I have waited for 3mos on some backordered items. They also have free stuff with orders - got a couple of Pelican lights, binos, and hats from them.

I've had the same experience, but when it comes through it's all good.

From my experience with them, it's always better to call and speak to someone when you order. That way you know if something's in stock or not. Usually they're pretty awesome, it's just sucks that I live in-state with them and have to pay shipping AND sales tax.

We stock a lot of optics and at times it is hard to keep everything in stock.

Yeah, they screwed me over on a part once. Ordered it, turned to be back ordered but incoming with a date. Two extensions later and they canceled my order on me due to failing at being a top tier retailer.
