    Talley mount orientation

    I just received Tally 2-piece scope mounts for a Marlin 336 that looks like these:

    As you can they are a sort of an asymmetrical L shape. Does it matter how the are orientated? I have looked online and found pictures them mounted with the L shape forwards, backwards and even both ways like this.

    So which is correct, or does it matter? Talley's website says nothing which is maddening.

    It shouldn't matter, except for how they fit on your gun and scope.

    The 3 things you'd need to consider are whether they give the right location on the rifle for the scope's eye relief and your shooting style, how well the scope fits in them, and whether they interfere with any part of the gun's operation, like hanging over the ejection port.

    I'd put them on loosely, then set the scope in the rings and see how it fits. Depending on your scope, it may be obvious that one orientation works better than others.
