Eotech and other similiar sights.

I always had a question on how these sights work. How do you know if your looking down it correctly to get an accurate shot. The targeting dot seems to move around if your not holding the gun very still. I don't understand how these are supposed to work without front sights to line the dot up with.

This is the beauty about a RED DOT sight; you do not need worry about your head position.

How is this possible? RED DOT sights are parallax free and the image floats inside the sight. When look through a RED DOT sight that is sitting still you can move your head a round and it will still stay on target. Scopes works the same way; they just have a fixed reticle and magnification so scopes will have parallax. The lower the magnification the less you will notice the parallax issues.

Well I saw looking at a review for an aimpoint red dot i think it was and it was moving. Can you link me to a good video of an eotech in action with shots through the sights?

Think of it as a laser sight that doesn't project a "shoot here" trail through the dust in the room (or let the intruder know that he has <5 seconds to live).

If you move the gun around, the laser will move around too, but will always be on (roughy) the point of impact. If the gun is immobilized and you move your head around, you'll see the dot remains on target.

Same for the Eotech.
Move the weapon and the sight moves all over the place because the POI is moving. Immobilize the weapon and move your head around and you'll see that the sight remains on-target.
