Magnifier FT left or FT right?

I was testing out my Larue mount for my new DM Premium 4x which is (excellent BTW) when I was starting to that that I would be better off flipping the scope to the right.

Originally I set it up to FTL (Flip to Left) so that I would have better access to the forward assist and to protect it from flying shells. However when shooting I noticed it messes with my BAC. It's right in the way, making it harder to aim, especially if I were to deploy my irons.

I'm considering changing it to FTR.
I have never had to use the Forward assist, but other than that, would I really have any issues with shells hitting it or otherwise?

I never had any issues with ejected shells hitting it but the gas and oil splashback from the action was annoying.

So did you change it to FTL? I can still aim fine, I just have to close my left eye because the scope right right in the way.
