Trijicon Accupoint scope 5-20x50 Please HELP!!

I Have a remington 700 sps tactical in .308.. I currently have a leupold vx1 4-12x40 scope on it, but I really want to upgrade the glass. I want something that is clearer, something that doesnt require tools to adjust the height and windage. I was looking towards the leupold vx3 6-20 or the Trijicon Accupoint 5-20. I like the fact that the accupoint has the tritium illumination. But I have NO experience with the accupoint... I know they have the single post retical (any opinions?). I hope someone can shed some light on this It seems like the leupold mark4 is a little too rich for my blood. I have about $1000 to spend...

IMO, the triangle/picket post reticle and ~50-55moa of adjustment range is absurd in a long range riflescope. I scratch my head on this Trijicon offering. However, they are clear and sturdy scopes.

A 6.5-20x Vortex Viper mildot for under $500 makes a lot more sense.....

The post reticle should not have been offered in the 5-25x scope- grrrrreat in a 1-4 and such- the 5-25 ought to be a mil dot. You cannot play past ~30 without mil dots. Even on a 308, with an MOA scope base- you might just run out of adjustment at 800-900 yards though.

I can get you a Leupold Mark4 LRT 4.5-14x50 TMR for $1100 total price. You cannot spend a wiser dollar than on a Mark 4. Just ask all the proffessional snipers and winning competitive shooters out there. Sure, there's better stuff available, but not for $1100 bucks.

Winning competetive shooters will tell you to save another $400 and get a Nightforce.

I went and looked through the 3-9 Accupoint today and the glass was really clear just like the ACOG. It was the standard not mildot version and the dot was really small. I didn't have it outside so I would hope the dot might light up better int he right conditions. It was just starting to get dark, and not quite dark enough for the tritium to kick in. I'd love to own one but I have not tried a great deal of expensive scopes. I checked out the Leupold 3-9 VX-I and it was good too but not quite as clear (still very good) and didn't offer the same features. For the price difference, and since it would be going on an AR, I might opt for the Leupold.

Hakko makes nightforce- Hakko makes super sniper. Super sniper is junk, therefore, one must assume that Nightforce has a high probability of being junk also.

The Caviat:

Optically- nightforce has the most beatiful clear crisp bright image out there. They just don't have the bulletproof turret assembly of the Mark 4. For this reason though- many, many, many, many BR and F class shooters DO IN FACT prefer Nightforce- they are not spinning turrets like tactical shooters.

Hakko is NOT assembling Nightforce scopes.
Nightforce are designed and asembled here of components sourced in Japan.

In the last few years, Nightforce seems to have the highest reliability record of almost ANY scope maker, at least in the precision rifle matches I frequent which is all the big west coast matches...
Leupold's construction quality has gone WAY down from what they were 10 years ago.

I did some soul searching, and have decided to go with the Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14. I am going to spend the extra money I would have spent on a Nightforce on a trigger and stock upgrade. Truly thank you everybody for your input. It was greatly appreciated.
