    Night view

What is the best acog, aimpint style night vision optics (I know legal to own but not mounted to rifle) but if I go out of state it would be cool and in Ca I could still look through o see what is out there...

Best bang for the buck is what I am looking for... Thanks

I think the law just says you can't have a dedicated night vision scope, but you can mount an intensifier with existing day optics (ie PVS-14 or 22), but double-check to be sure.

For most fire & maneuver night fighting, I think wearing a set of googles combined with an IR laser is the best combination, however that is a costly solution and I think most IR lasers are LEO/MIL only. Your best bang for the buck is probably going to be mounting a PVS-14 or comparable monocular intensifier behind the day optic. Of course, this is going to mean you'll need to spend between $3000-4000 because you'll probably need a Gen III tube to see the reticle with any reasonable level of detail. A cheaper Gen II could be used with an RDS, but it's still not cheap.

you can have a dedicated NV scope. You cant have one if it has magnification greater than 1x AND an IR illuminator on the rifle. Most modern NV setups are perfectly Kali legal.

Appreciate the info as I have only std scopes but I am wanting something fairly cheap...

Maybe I could mount it out of state or just peek through to see what is what then I can light it up with my rifle mounted light...

We have alot of predators on my land and it would be neat to what is what.

Does anyone here have anything like this local to Auburn I could check out at night...? (Sacramento etc) Thanks folks!!

So which acog or aimpoint style set up would be best from all your experiences?

It's a great multipurpose optic, no doubt about it. If you are looking for an optic for use w/ NVD (night vision device), the ACOG is not compatible for that. I would go with EOTECH or AIMPOINT.

When discussing optics, "cheap" and "quality" don't go in the same sentence unless that sentence is something like "You can't get quality cheap".
