    Spotting scope

Would like to purchase a "decent" spotting scope.
although has to be budget/value priced.
Dose not have to be top of the line but at the same time I don't want to have to buy a second time.
My eyes are bad would like to see if I'm hitting the 100-200m targets without having to snag the house scope.
    Please provide web links.
    Thank You !

I bought this at the recommendation of the web site.

It has worked well for the price. You can read the reviews and check it out.

BH photo had them for 175 approx awhile back . Out of stock now. It registered when you went to check out. I almost hit the pay button but I had just bought about 700 bills of goods and decided to wait. Missed it.

I have the konus, it does not "feel" very good quality, but it works awesome compared to some Barskas I tried, so the optics are great. It's very clear and good bang for the buck, just not as rugged as other that cost $100's more. If I was asked if I would do it again, I certainly would. I would have skipped the Olympus Camera adapter though it does not work with my SLR at all. I just forgot to send it back.

The Konuspot 80 is the only scope I would buy under $500. If you can't afford at least a Kowa 660 series, then I would buy the Konuspot 80. Then save up the cash for a Kowa or a Bushnell Elite spotting scope.

Anybody have reviews on this particular model: http://www.opticsplanet.net/konus-ko...cope-7138.html

I've been eyeballing it for a while now.

I looked through a Winchester 50x at Big5 and it was fairly clear. ams30gts has a thread about them in this section below. He also pm'ed me that it worked well for what I was looking for. Anyone know where I can look through a Konuspot 80 in Southern Ca. ? I want to just rule it out or in. All the reviews are good and that is what is holding me up.

Are you talking about this one? http://www.opticsplanet.net/vanguard...scope-kit.html

I bought one at Big 5 recently when it was on sale for $99. My buying criteria were:

                  1) inexpensive
                  2) small/light enough to throw in my range bag...I already have enough crap to carry from the car to the line and didn't want yet another bag to carry
                  3) good enough optics to see .223 holes at 100yds

It satisfies all those criteria. It's extremely compact and light compared to most other spotting scopes and came with its own soft case and a decent tripod. It also comes with a large padded hard case that I have no use for. At 12x the optical quality is pretty good. I could see target holes at 100 yds just fine and it will probably work out to 200 yds if you're using shoot-n-c targets.

                  Now for the cons.

The eye relief is not great. On 12x it's about 5mm so you can only just use it with your shooting glasses on. At higher magnifications you can only see the center of the image unless you take off your glasses and stick your eye all the way into the eyepiece. Not a huge deal if you're shooting slowfire but something to be aware of.

Also, the optics are good up to about 20-25x and then things start getting fuzzy. So like I said it will work for 100 or 200 yards but I wouldn't expect more out of it.

Ditto this. I bought one at Big 5 about a month ago and it works great. $99.00 is a great price for it.

I like the spotting scope (Vanguard/Winchester 12-50x). Eye relief isn't great, but it was no worse than the $400 Leupold I tried also. I use it up to maybe 40x without a problem.

What makes the scope sweeter is the case and tripod it comes with. Not to mention is comes with a soft case with shoulder strap too. definitely worth the $$

This thing is tiny which makes it even better.
