    Another Scope Opinon Thread

New Calgunner here and I recently purchased a Spikes AR-22 from fellow Calgunner "Pbrand" (good guy to do business with!!) and I am looking to buy a nice glass for my new toy. After countless hours reading different opinons on numerous scopes I've narrowed it down to a these scopes based on my budget.

99.99% of my time with this rifle will be at Manteca Sportsman, shooting at 100yds. But perhaps my usage will change, and perhaps this crazy ammo shortage will go away and I can afford to shoot .223 or 5.56....but anyways until then here's what I am thinking of buying. From least expensive to my top end of the budget.

Thanks for your help! Anyone got a LaRue or GG&G mount they want to give me please PM me and I will give you my address

The Nikon are nice but I really like the Leupold's more.

The 1.5-4x is fast for close up and the 3-9x is nice for midrange and precision shots.

If we can be of any help feel free to ask we sale all the ones you have listed and I will do my best to help get you the scope at the best price.

The Millett will have the worst glass of the lot, but the most features (and is likely the heaviest as well).

I'm also a big fan of Leupold, for their generous eye relief, but I haven't used the Mk AR scopes.

For precision paper punching, I'd get the Leupold Mk AR 3-9x.

For faster shooting, it would be a toss-up between the Leupold 1.5-4x and the Millett. The Leupold's a much better scope overall, but I like the Millett's illuminated CQB reticle a lot. Still, for a first scope, the Leupold's a better bet than the Millett.

Some people have the Leupold custom shop put their turkey reticle in the Mk AR, which is similar to the Millett reticle. It's still not illuminated, though, and adds more money to the package.

For mounts, the best bet for under $100 is probably the Burris PEPR. No QR, but it's a solid, well-designed, flexible mount that will serve you well if you can't afford ADM, LaRue, or GG&G.

You asked, so i'll tell ya. Buy the cheapest one (Burris, I presume) and spend the difference on a wide selection of match ammo. Find out what your rifle likes, then buy a bunch of it. I think you'll be happier with an economical scope and accurate gun, than with a sexy scope and crummy groups.

Nikon or Leupold. That's the choices.
