Hello All,
I have a Savage 99c which was manufactured in 1969. I want to scope the rifle, as my old eyes aren't up to the iron sights. I had originally thought about mounting a marbles tang sight or a Williams peep, but I think a scope would be best given that I actually want to hit what I'm aiming at.
What I would like, however, is a period-correct (or at least a reasonable facsimile) scope that looks like something from the 70s (or 80s) instead of the hyper-modern looking ones with their exposed turrets and red/green lights. To me those look as out of place as putting a red dot on a Colt SAA. No doubt it would be effective, I just don't like the looks.
I've looked on Amazon and Optics Planet and Midway and Brownell, but again, I mainly see very modern looking scopes with matte finishes and, for lack of a better word, a more modern -looking appearance. Where can I find scopes that have a more vintage look, and that won't break the bank?
