There is some fakes out there. Ask for the numbers. Then call sig to see if it's legitimate.

2nd'ing what kingransom said. Click on the seller storefront, click on reviews, filter their negative reviews. You'll get an idea really quick if its fake or not.

Well,
I found what should have been a great deal from PSA for a Vortex Venom.
Received it today only to find out it does not work.
The on button which controls the brightness and the auto brightness does nothing.
No brightness control, it is stuck at one setting.
No auto control, does not work.
Will not turn it on.
Only the off button works to turn it on and off.
The dot is not round either, it has a tail at 5:00
Also almost impossible to get the battery cover on.

I have 6, 5 work flawlessly and 1 would not zero.
Sent into Vortex and they sent back a new one.
Sucks but it does happen.
Turn around less than 3 weeks.

Some people have problems installing battery and cover.
Did read about the battery cover flying off.

For me was simple.
Unscrew battery cover, turn until you can feel threads drop into starting position.
Mark the cap with a sharpie pen.
Remove cap, drop in battery, install cap with mark in same place.
Turn cap 360*
This is a location mark and can visually check and see if cap is starting to loosen.

Hope it all makes sense.

LOTS of (branded) counterfeits on ebay. Acogs, Daniel Defense, EoTech, Sig, Vortex. Second looking at reviews, usually someone has called them out on it. Most won't have a box/case look at pics and cases don't have like branding. It's bullshrimp too because ebay is supposed to shut down counterfeit sales. But they collect 13.5% of sales so...
