    Eotech vs Holosun

Anyone have experience with either of the Eotech or Holosun, please give me some advice. Have read some reviews on both and I seem confused choosing an optic for my MK23.

Both brands make several models... which ones are you considering, and what are you 'confused' by?

A little more info will likely result in the responses you are looking for.

Ive owned many of both. Never once has any of my eotechs failed on me or given me any issues old or new. Ive owned many holosuns as well. Only once (years ago) i had a holosun arrive with weird white flakes inside the tube stuck to the glass, very odd. Was exchanged no questions asked.

Both companies have very good customer service. But at the end of the day holosun is still chinese made and every so often you see posts of issues and bad quality control.

Wasn't Eotech found to have lied/cheated or something else bad re: US Gov't contracts a few years back? That alone would steer me anywhere else (not to Chinese'ium stuff though)

HK M23 Pistol? If so the EoTech EFLX red dot pistol sights do not have great reviews. Given the $370 minimum advertised price point I am not sure I would spend that kind of money on it. Meanwhile the Holosun 407 and 507 red dot sights are considered to be surprisingly good for the price point. Usually $260 or less. I have been running Viridian RFX35 sights and been incredibly impressed given their price point of a minimum advertised price of $249. I get dealer pricing on them, which I do not get on Holosun. So for me it is an even better deal. If you can afford a Trijicon RMR or better yet SRO with the larger window those are best in class. but those will cost you $500 and up.

When it comes to non-magnifired rifle sights my preference would be Aimpoint T2, EoTech, then a Holosun micro-sight that shares the same footprint of the T2. The differences in pricepoints follows that same order. All are excellent sights. With the Aimpoint T2 and EoTech EXPS you get the battle proven performance and prestige. With the Aimpoint T2 you get better battery life and less weight. With the EoTech EXPS you get a larger window which many prefer. With the Holosun Micro-Sights that share the T2 footprint you get surprising value for the money and you can use a high-end mount that will also work with a T2 if you upgrade someday. I have not tried a Viiridian option on a rifle yet. Might be something I'll explore in the future now that my supplier stopped carrying Holosun.

For the record you don't hear much about Viridian sights. They are newer to the market. Perhaps 3 or 4 years. They have been making laser-sights and lights for decades. I tried them because the RFX35 has an RMR footprint and the price was right. I had multiple pistols to equip and did not want to pay Triicon RMR prices for all of them. I would still pay for a Trijicon SRO for a duty or defensive gun. But it would be for peace of mind, and bragging rights. The Viridian and Holosuns I had on my pistols worked flawlessly. Personally I kind of like the Veridian better. I think it looks nicer, and the window seems larger to me. A lot like the SRO.

No, what they discovered was that if you zeroed your rifle in the desert heat. Then hopped on a plane and went to somewhere way below zero like Antarctica, your zero shifted a little. This happens with all devices of this nature. Not just EoTech. It is the nature of the beast with red dots and holographic sights. So whatever you steer towards will do it too.

In my opinion it was a very clear example of how the military is not the end all be all authority on firearms and related equipment. Because you have to ask, not only why did they not know all devices like this will do that? But also, why the hell where they going on major deployments all the way to the other half of the world without re-zeroing their rifles? As if once you zero it, you never need to touch it again. So much can happen during that kind of transit. Especially when it comes to optics. Why would you ever trust it? Between any deployment, period?

Plus, if this is a problem you are even actually gonna face? I want your travel budget.

^^ Yep. and all was needed was a couple rounds fired to re-zero. Big whoop. Eotechs are combat ready. Ive been on some "gore" sites that people post recent gopro footage of the IDF in gaza. Ive noticed alot of eotechs being used along side meprolights. I wouldnt hestitate to buy another one if i needed something they had that fit my needs.

Yeh, what he said; the part about which specific models you are interested in, that would help broaden and also narrow the discussion.

Are you looking for closed emitter or open emitter; does it matter to you? How serious of a gun and its intended purpose; such as just for indoor range, will be shooting in heavy rain/snow, may be dropped in mud, or etc.

I'm a Eotech fan and the only problem I've ever run into was in the older Ecotech's I've had with the older Eotech EXPS's had some delamination issues with the glass but I sent it in and was good to go.I have and had different xps and exps models which still run strong today. I only wish they sold the hood's separately for when they get beat up and scratched up but a simple cerakote job clears that up.
